Shaker cabinets are a style derived from the Shakers of New England. Simplicity in form and function is what most people associate with Shaker style. Shaker doors typically have flat panel fronts with a frame. Sometimes, the frame will be squared off or have a bead or even an ogee on the inside edge. There are many levels of Shaker.
As you can see from the photos on the right, Shaker can transcend different styles. From traditional to contemporary, it is used with equal success. Then, once you throw in the wood and stain, you have added even more possibilities.
There is no one way to represent a Shaker kitchen. Simple and clean lines are just the beginning.
